Terry Hammond is being inducted into the Lansing Bowling Hall of Fame for his outstanding dedication to the game of bowling.

Terry was born in New Castle, Indiana on August 24, 1946.  He graduated from Okemos High School in 1964.  Right after high school he joined the Michigan National Guard and spent his first free summer in Fort Knox, Kentucky.  After his 6 months of basic training he returned to Lansing and began work at Oldsmobile.  He retired from General Motors as a Systems Analyst in 1999 after 34 years of dedicated service.

He began bowling in Lansing men’s leagues in 1965.  In the early 80’s when Terry’s children began youth bowling he was a YABA coach in Mason for 3 years.  He served as secretary/treasurer for the Olds #1 league from 1971 to 1978 and for the Olds Forge league from 2000 to 2007 and was the president of the Kegel Klub league for 2 years.  Terry was elected to the Lansing USBC board of directors in 2008 and served as the 2nd vice president from 2011 to 2014.  In 2014 he was elected as president and still holds that office today.  He is the first Lansing USBC president to serve two consecutive 3 year terms.  Terry has served as the Lansing USBC webmaster and has been the yearbook coordinator since 2012.  He developed the Hall of Fame video and has been responsible for updating it since 2014.  He served on the merge committee for the men, women and youth in 2017, helps with the City tournament check in table and was instrumental in getting the Women’s State Tournament to Lansing in 2019.

Rick Zohott

Rick was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 19, 1967. His family moved to East Lansing, Michigan in 1976 and Rick started bowling youth league at Holiday Lanes in 1978. He bowled the Saturday morning league until he was in high school. Rick graduated from East Lansing High School in 1986 and bowled in a couple of adult leagues until he joined the United States Army in 1988. He was stationed at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina and deployed to the Persian Gulf in 1990 and served during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged in 1992. Rick moved back to Lansing and got back into bowling.
Rick has been married to his amazing wife and best friend Rena for 25 years. They have 2 children Victoria and Chandler.

Some of Rick’s greatest bowling memories are shooting his first 300 while bowling with his father. He also had the privilege of bowling nationals in Syracuse with his son and bowling doubles on Father’s Day with Chandler and it was his son’s first national tournament.

I have been lucky enough to bowl with some of the best bowlers in the area and I would like to thank everyone. It’s been my pleasure to bowl with and against all of you.
